  The 2011 swimsuit season is here and we at Sandstorm Boutique are here to tell all you curvy ladies there is no need to panic!

There is no need to try and wear ‘skinny girl’ bathers this season.  There is swimwear out there to flatter the loveliness that you are.

If you are a size UK14 and above rejoice in the fact that real women are adored by men across the world. YES – it is true, research has shown that most men prefer the shape of ordinary, everyday women and that is a size UK14.

1. Wear classic one-pieces with a twist....

Ladies it is time to break away from plain black swimwear. We admit black is safe and slimming but remember so are bright solid colours and designs which incorporate on-trend patterns and colours. We also recommend body hugging suits with rouching across the tummy, necklines which show a little cleavage and one-pieces which have special detailing to help divert the eyes away from no no body parts.

2. Bikinis as a general rule are a Big NO NO - but there are a few exceptions to this rule .....

A well structured tankini is a perfect compromise and if you have a great bust, little waist and you are in proportion with your hips a gorgeous skirt bikini could be the perfect addition to your summer wardrobe.

3. Don’t get bent out of shape about the lack of choice ..... BE CREATIVE!

We recommend you invest in a couple of slimming bathing suits and then mix and match your beach look with different coloured matching sarongs, elegant and colourful kaftans, pretty beach and maxi dresses, wide leg trousers, sparkly sandals and oh so chic big sun glasses!

The golden rule is:

Don’t scrimp and save on your swimwear remember – don’t do yourself a disservice when you come to buy your beachwear in 2011. Essentially when you do venture onto the beach this summer you will basically be wearing underwear as outer wear! So you need to get the look and feel of your summer wardrobe right.

So in essence - be prepared to invest in you - good quality; tummy controlling, body slimming, stylish bathers will last a couple of seasons (top tip – just update your look each season with tunics, sarongs and sandals)!

MEET THE DESIGNER - KIRSTI GRINNA

Meet the Designer - Kirsti Grinna.  Kirsti is a talented designer from the USA. Her 2010 collections were a hit with our clients to include; Flavia Cacace and Una Healy from The Saturdays.  Kirsti's newest designs are sure to have so many ladies wishing for, wanting and needing her items in their holiday wardrobe! 

Kirsti designs two collections per season. KGB and Kirsti Grinna.

KGB 2011 gets its styling from Fairy Tales' and Fables' romantic female characters. The Kirsti Grinna Collection is her higher end, limited edition based collection.
Kirsti Grinna hit the scene as a 14 year old high school freshman with a natural talent for art and fashion and eye for design most likely inherited from her veteran swimwear designing mother Tara Grinna. Her breakout collection, introduced at the Miami Swim Show featured models wearing Russian hats and fur boots under the label KGB (her initials Kirsti Grinna and "Bikinis") and attracted the attention of the industry's most respected buyers and editors alike. A suit from her first collection was featured in the famed Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and she became an instant hit in the world of fashion by introducing an influence on Russian culture that is still relevant today!

Tara Grinna predicts swimwear trends for 2011 - Fashion News USA

For those overwhelmed with choices on what to wear for summer 2011, swimwear designer Tara Grinna provides a glimpse of what could be the trends for Spring/Summer 2011.

“The Fashion Swim Week in Miami indicates a very colorful 2011. There’s going to be plenty of choices to play with colors. Colors like blue green, orange and shades of brown are likely to be the most popular. Turquoise and light skies blended with greens are predicted to be a great hit for 2011. Gold is another color that’s likely to rule the 2011 swimwear scene, with golden threads, golden dye et al …set to add bling to 2011, says the legendary designer.

“Besides colors geometric shapes characterized by tribal, ethnic and abstract art, unexpected colorful animal prints and beautiful abstract composites are also likely to rule the roost for 2011. Just as the last few years bandeaus and monokinis are to be a feature of 2011 as well. You could add bikinis and one piece suits to this list, she adds.

“Vintage swimwear that exudes sexiness and style and reveals just the right amount of skin is likely to make a comeback. A perfect balance is maintained between mystery and sexiness in these swimsuits. For those deciding to go bold, styles are likely to go diverse and likely to range from deep Brazilian cuts to moderate cuts, and full covered bottoms.
