The term "Brazilian cut" comes from the fact Brazil  originated the style. 

This style bikini bottom is widely worn in Latin America, the Caribbean and some parts of Europe. But it's not widely worn by the conservative British women!

(The swimsuit cut is also referred to as the "latin cut"). Brazilian cut bikinis are also generally low rise.
